System of a Down have added a fourth and final show at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, set for Saturday, June 12th, 2027, with Gojira in support. The new date comes after the band sold out their first three nights at the stadium in a single day.
Tickets for June 12th go on sale today, Tuesday, October 27th, at noon local time via Ticketmaster. Live Nation and 30e are promoting the shows, which will be the band’s only North American headline performances of 2027. Prices haven’t been announced.
The run began with a single date, June 5th with Pierce The Veil, announced in mid-October as the band’s first-ever Rose Bowl show. On Monday, October 26th, the day of the general on-sale, they added June 6th, also with Pierce The Veil, and June 10th with Gojira. All three sold out that same day.
Pasadena borders Glendale, where Daron Malakian, Serj Tankian, Shavo Odadjian and John Dolmayan formed System of a Down in 1994. The four June nights will be their first at the Rose Bowl, the 1922 stadium best known as the home of UCLA football and the Rose Bowl Game.
The shows follow the band’s 2025 North American stadium tour, which paired them with Korn, Deftones and Avenged Sevenfold and added second nights at MetLife Stadium, Chicago’s Soldier Field and Toronto’s Rogers Stadium. In 2024, they played Golden Gate Park in San Francisco with Deftones.
Before Pasadena, the band will play Rio de Janeiro’s Maracanã on January 15th with Faith No More, who are returning with Mike Patton after nearly a decade away, followed by four stadium dates in Australia and New Zealand between January 22nd and February 7th.
The Rose Bowl news lands in the 25th anniversary year of ‘Toxicity’, released September 4th, 2001. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, was named SPIN’s album of the year and went multi-platinum. Earlier this month, Beyond The Streets in Los Angeles hosted a free, weeklong exhibition of artifacts and ephemera from the era.
“None of the songs were written to be hits,” Malakian told SPIN. He also recalled the free release show the band planned for September 3rd, 2001, in a Hollywood parking lot, which fire marshals shut down, sparking a riot: “Talk about a crazy day.”
The band haven’t released a studio album since 2005, when ‘Mezmerize’ and ‘Hypnotize’ both debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Their only new music since came in November 2020 with ‘Protect the Land’ and ‘Genocidal Humanoidz’, released to support humanitarian efforts in Armenia; the band and their fans raised more than $600,000.
