The anime ‘Tank Chair’ has released a creditless version of its opening sequence, set to ‘DALALA’ by Japanese band SiM, Crunchyroll News reports. The series’ ending theme, ‘SYNC’, is performed by singer Daoko.
‘Tank Chair’ premiered October 4th on Japanese television, airing on Tokyo MX, BS11, CBC TV and MBS, and streams exclusively on Amazon Prime Video outside Japan. Produced by studio Polygon Pictures and directed by Tadahiro Yoshihira and Hiroaki Ando, the series adapts Manabu Yashiro‘s manga, published by Kodansha since 2022. It follows Nagi Taira, an assassin on the dangerous Guicheng Island who fell into a coma after saving his younger sister, Shizuka. Nagi wakes only when he feels the urge to kill, fighting from a heavily armed wheelchair, while Shizuka takes on increasingly dangerous contracts in hopes that one brutal battle will wake him for good.
‘DALALA’ was written for the series. Lyrics are by SiM vocalist MAH and Jon Lundin, who also co-wrote and arranged the music with the band. The song was released September 2nd via Pony Canyon and appears on ‘HOOMAN AFTER ALL’, SiM’s new album, issued the same day via UNFD. MAH described the record as “our full on tribute to the prime era of rock from the late ’90s to early 2000s.”
It’s not the first time the band from Shonan, Kanagawa, has scored an anime. In 2022, SiM provided ‘The Rumbling’, the opening for ‘Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 2’, which hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Hard Rock Songs chart. ‘HOOMAN AFTER ALL’ also includes ‘FREEZE ME UP’, the opening theme for the anime ‘Black Torch’.
SiM are currently touring North America on the ‘HOOMAN AFTER ALL’ world tour and will head to the U.K. and Europe in early 2027.
