Rob Zombie has released a video for ‘Sir Lord Acid Wolfman’, a track from ‘The Great Satan’, just in time for Halloween. The brooding, spiraling song is the seventh of the album’s 15 tracks. ‘The Great Satan’ came out February 27th via Nuclear Blast and was his first studio album in five years.
The song had already found a second life outside the album. It was the B-side to ‘I Love My Robot’, the debut single from actress Sheri Moon Zombie, Rob’s wife, which arrived July 27th with a video directed by Rob Zombie and production by Chris “Zeuss” Harris. It was pressed on a 12-inch picture disc limited to 600 copies, 500 for the U.S. and 100 for Europe, which has sold out worldwide.
Zeuss also produced ‘The Great Satan’, having previously worked with Zombie on 2021’s ‘The Lunar Injection Kool Aid Eclipse Conspiracy’. The album marked the return of two familiar faces: guitarist Mike Riggs, who played with Zombie from the late Nineties until 2004, took over from John 5, who left for Mötley Crüe in 2022, and bassist Rob “Blasko” Nicholson, a member from 1997 to 2006, replaced Piggy D., who exited in January 2024 after 18 years. Ginger Fish remains on drums.
The album was preceded by the singles ‘Punks and Demons’, ‘Heathen Days’ and ‘(I’m a) Rock ‘N’ Roller’, and later backed by ‘F.T.W. 84’, ‘Tarantula’ and ‘Black Rat Coffin’.
Zombie spent the summer on the road with ‘Freaks on Parade’, the North American tour he co-headlined with Marilyn Manson. It opened August 20th at the iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, Florida, and wrapped September 20th at the Toyota Pavilion in Concord, California. He then played the Louder Than Life and Aftershock festivals.
Halloween is home turf for Zombie. The White Zombie founder, who has sold more than 15 million albums, has written and directed nine feature films, including ‘House of 1000 Corpses’, ‘The Devil’s Rejects’ and ‘The Munsters’, as well as his takes on ‘Halloween’ (2007) and ‘Halloween II’ (2009), from the franchise created by John Carpenter.
