Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have composed the score for ‘The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth’, the new film from director David Fincher, written by Quentin Tarantino and starring Brad Pitt. The Nine Inch Nails duo’s involvement was confirmed on the film’s official poster. The movie opens in IMAX theaters worldwide on November 25th for an exclusive two-week run before arriving on Netflix December 23rd.
The film serves as a follow-up to Tarantino’s 2019 ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’, bringing back stuntman Cliff Booth, the role that earned Pitt the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Set in 1977, eight years after the events of the original, it finds Booth working as a Hollywood fixer, as well as a bartender and projectionist. Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Timothy Olyphant and Peter Weller round out the cast, among others.
It marks Reznor and Ross’s sixth consecutive feature with Fincher. The partnership began with 2010’s ‘The Social Network’, whose score won them the Oscar and Golden Globe for Best Original Score. It continued with ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ (2011), which earned them a Grammy, ‘Gone Girl’ (2014), ‘Mank’ (2020) and ‘The Killer’ (2023). No soundtrack album release has been announced yet.
Outside of Fincher’s films, the pair have scored Pixar’s ‘Soul’, which won them a second Oscar, shared with Jon Batiste; ‘Challengers’, which brought them another Golden Globe; ‘Queer’; ‘Bird Box’; and ‘Patriots Day’. Their score for 2025’s ‘TRON: Ares’ made the Academy’s shortlist for Best Original Score.
