Marty Friedman has released ‘2 Rebeldes (Spanish Vocal)’, a Spanish-language version of a song from ‘Drama’, his 2024 solo album, along with a visualizer. The single arrives days before his Latin American tour, which kicks off November 11th in São Paulo.
“‘2 Rebeldes’ is my love letter to all the Latin countries around the world,” the former Megadeth guitarist said. Friedman explained that he wanted a Spanish-language song for his fans in Latin countries and that he finds it funny that it is sung by a Japanese vocalist: Hal-Ca of ASTERISM, who will join him onstage during the tour.
The tour celebrates the 34th anniversary of ‘Scenes’, his second solo album, released in November 1992, and features his Japanese band. It runs through Brazil, Chile, Uruguay and Argentina before wrapping in Mexico, with shows in Guadalajara, Monterrey and Mexico City on November 21st, 22nd and 24th. In December he’ll play South Korea’s Hero festival, and in 2027 he heads to Southern California, with a Metal Allegiance appearance at the House of Blues in Anaheim on January 28th and a solo show at the Whisky a Go Go in West Hollywood on January 29th, before the ‘Live Drama’ European tour begins in April.
Friedman said he is already writing music for the follow-up to ‘Drama’, though no title or release date has been set. He added that he won’t release another album until he feels it tops 2014’s ‘Inferno’.
A member of Megadeth from 1990 to 2000, playing on albums including ‘Rust in Peace’ and ‘Countdown to Extinction’, Friedman moved to Japan in the early 2000s, where he built much of his solo career and became a familiar face on television. ‘Drama’ was released in May 2024 via Frontiers Music.
